Silfer Named to CoSIDA Academic All-District Team

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Jessy Silfer of the Wake Forest field hockey team was named a CoSIDA Academic All-District honoree, the organiztion announced Thursday. Silfer was recognized as an at-large nominee, which combines student-athletes from 13 sports, including field hockey, golf, tennis and more. She earned the award as a Division 3 student-athlete, which includes institutions in the states of North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia.
The award recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom, as selected by College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
To be eligible for the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.3 GPA while being a meaningful contributor on the field in at least her second year at the school.
A health & exercise science major from Cazenovia, N.Y., Silfer has maintained a 4.0 GPA during her two years at Wake Forest. Silfer earned NFCHA Field Hockey Scholar of Distinction honors twice at Wake Forest and twice at the University of Iowa and is a four-time member of the NFHCA Division I National Academic Squad. The senior is a two-time All-ACC Academic Team member, 2015-16 ACC Honor Roll member and a member of the 2014 Academic All-Big Ten team.
In her two seasons with the Demon Deacons, Silfer started all 38 games. The senior took 74 of 109 corners for Wake Forest and scored one goal and recorded eight assists during her senior campaign.
As an All-District honoree, Silfer will now be on the ballot for Academic All-America consideration, which will be selected later this month.
