GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Wake Forest junior golfer Paul McBride was named the ACC Co-Men's Golfer of the Month for April, the conference announced Thursday (May 4). McBride shares the award from Jimmy Stanger of Virginia.
McBride had a pair of top-five finishes in April as he led the Demon Deacons to a second place finish at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate and a third place finish at the ACC Championship.
The native of Ireland opened the month by shooting a 5-under 208 at the Irish Creek Intercollegiate to finish fourth. At the ACC Championship, he finished in the four-way tie atop the leaderboard after 54 holes with a 5-under 211 before Stanger won the title in a playoff. McBride shot five of six rounds in April under par and had a scoring average of 69.8 for the month.
The honor is the first of McBride's career and the second for a Demon Deacon this season, joining Will Zalatoris, who was the ACC Golfer of the Month for March.
Wake Forest will return to action May 15-17 with the NCAA Austin Regional in Texas. The top five teams at the event will advance to the NCAA Championships, held May 26-31 in Sugar Grove, Ill.
