DURHAM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis team concluded its first fall tournament of the season Sunday afternoon at the Duke James Bonk Invite. Redshirt sophomore Alan Gadjiev won the Deacs' lone match of the day to claim fifth place in the A1 singles flight.
Competing against Maximillian Scholl of George Washington, Gadjiev made quick work to secure the 6-1, 6-1 victory to place fifth in the flight. The redshirt sophomore finished the weekend with a 3-1 record.
Yuval Solomon was set to play for the consolation title of the A2 singles flight, but his opponent withdrew prior to the start of the match.
In the Columbus Challenger, Skander Mansouri and Julian Zlobinsky each fell in the second round of qualifying. Mansouri claimed the first set over Alexander Brown in a tiebreaker, 7-6(5), before dropping the second and third sets by 6-4 scores. Zlobinsky faced the No. 4 seed in qualifying, Luke Bambridge, and fell 7-6(7), 6-4.
The Deacs will be back in action next weekend at the Oracle ITA Masters, held in California, and the Gator Ranked +1 tournament, hosted by the University of Florida.
