KNOXVILLE, Tenn. – The Wake Forest women's golf team opened play Monday at the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate with the first and second rounds at the Cherokee Country Club. Freshman Emilia Migliaccio holds the 36-hole lead at 9-under as the Demon Deacons concluded the opening day in eighth place.
Migliaccio, playing her second collegiate event, shot rounds of 67 and 66 on the par-71 course to finish the day at 9-under. She holds a four-shot lead with one round to play.
The Demon Deacons posted rounds of 289 and 292 on Monday to finish the day at 13-over.
"Emilia played great today," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "She had a couple of bad holes and in each instance she came back strong with birdies. She was tough and solid today. There were a lot of good lessons to take away from today and hopefully we will finish strong as a team tomorrow."
Siyun Liu is T-25th after two round at 3-over after rounds of 70 and 75. Jennifer Kupcho posted rounds of 74 and 73 to end Monday at 5-over. Mai Dechathipat is at 14-over and Monica Schumacher rounded out the Demon Deacon lineup at 23-over.
The tournament concludes Tuesday with the final round at the Cherokee Country Club.
