CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – Wake Forest sophomore Emilia Migliaccio captured her second career title by winning the individual crown at the Tar Heel Invitational. She shot a final round 70 on Sunday at the Finley Golf Course to finish the tournament at 11-under and post a four-shot victory.
Wake Forest finished the tournament in fifth place at 4-over as a team.
Migliaccio shot rounds of 67-68-70 to post a career-best score of 11-under par. She becomes just the second Demon Deacon to twice finish a tournament double digits under par, joining her teammate Jennifer Kupcho. Her previous 54-hole low was 10-under par, set at last year's Tar Heel Invitational. It was her second career title, as she won the Mercedes-Benz Collegiate in Tennessee as a freshman.
"It was an exciting day with such a strong field watching Emilia win," said head coach Kim Lewellen. "She played and composed herself with great professionalism. She is a great representative of Wake Forest as she adds to the rich history of our program. As a team, we had a number of wins over top 20 teams, so it was a good performance."
Siyun Liu shot a final round 73, Kupcho shot 74, Vanessa Knecht shot 75 and Letizia Begnoli shot 76 to round out the Wake Forest lineup. Monica Schumacher, playing as an individual, shot a final round 76 to match her collegiate low round.
The Demon Deacons close out their fall schedule in two weeks with the Landfall Tradition in Wilmington, N.C.
