THE MATCHUP
• ACC play continues for Wake Forest volleyball as the Deacons travel to Blacksburg, Va. to face Virginia Tech on Friday, Oct. 19 at 6 p.m.
• The match will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra with Jake Lawrence on the call.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Deacons picked up back-to-back conference victories against Georgia Tech and Clemson at home , but fell to Duke on Wednesday night to move to 3-6 in the ACC.
• Junior outside hitter Caroline Rassenfoss lead the Deacs with 35 kills and .360 hitting percentage over the weekend behind a season-high 21 kill performance on Sunday.
• Against Duke, Caitlyn Della led the Deacs with 14 kills, while Myca Mitchell, Rassenfoss and Caroline Kuhn added 12 each- tying a career high for Kuhn.
•Setter Madeline Holt posted her second double-double of the season with 42 assists and 19 digs.
QUICK HITS
• Head Coach Bill Ferguson returns for his third season at the helm of the program.
• The Demon Deacons return 14 players from last year's squad, led by seniors Hailey Brooke McFadden and Katie Moore, and welcome five freshmen to the club.
• Junior Caroline Rassenfoss is the team's returning kill leader as she tallied 271 kills last season.
• 2018 will mark the first season for Wake Forest Volleyball in the newly renovated Reynolds Gymnasium. Reynolds has been home for the Deacons since 1971. The team spent the previous two seasons in the LJVM Coliseum while the renovations were underway.
• Sophomores lead the way in three categories- Madeline Holt with 757 assists, Olivia Saunders with 72 total blocks and Caroline Kuhn with 18 service aces.
SCOUTING THE HOKIES
• Virginia Tech is coming off a three-match losing streak after falling the Clemson, Notre Dame and Louisville, all in three sets.
• Kaity Smith leads the Hokies with 239 kills (3.57 k/s) and is third on the team with 169 digs, behind Carol Raffety (241) and Ester Talamazzi (178).
• At the net, Melissa Cerchiohas tallied 78 total blocks and 151 kills.
• Right-side hitter Jaila Tolbert was selected as a Senior CLASS Award candidate. She is one of four ACC players to be nominated.
LOOKING AHEAD
• The Deacs will return home to host undefeated and current No. 6 Pitt, on Friday, Oct. 26 at 5:30 p.m., and will cap the weekend against Virginia on Sunday, Oct. 28 at 1.
• Friday's match against Pitt will be broadcast on ACCNE.
