THE MATCHUP
• Sixth-seed Wake Forest will take on three-seed Louisville in the opening round of the ACC Field Hockey Championship on Thursday, Nov. 2 at 4 p.m. at Karen Shelton Stadium in Chapel Hill, N.C.
• Every round of the championship will be broadcast on RSN and will have Tom Werme and Leah Secondo.
LAST TIME OUT
• Wake Forest capped the regular season with a 7-0 win over Davidson, its largest margin of victory this season on Sunday for Senior Day.
• Jule Grashoff notched her fourth career hat trick and matched a career-best four goals in the win, all on penalty corners. She also added an assist for nine points- another career-high.
• She earned ACC Offensive Player of the Week honors for her career-performance against the Wildcats.
• Kelsey Gill, Eleanor Winants and Megan Anderson also recorded goals for the Deacons, while Anderson and Veerle Bos each tallied a career-high four assists.
QUICK HITS
• Head coach Jen Averill returns for her 27th season at the helm of the program
• The Deacons return 13 players from last year's squad, led by Jule Grashoff, who led the team with 16 goals and 14 assists. The club also welcomes eight new freshmen.
• Grashoff was recently tabbed Preseason ALL-ACC, voted on by the league's seven coaches. Wake Forest was picked to finish seventh in the conference.
• Former U.S. National Team captain Melissa Gonzalez joins Wake Forest as an assistant coach. Gonzalez spent the past eight years competing with the U.S. Women's National Team and representing Team USA at two Olympic Games.
• Anderson leads the nation in assists per game with 1.35. She has notched 23 assists so far this season. Alexis Grippo also ranks in the top-5 nationally in assists per game at No. 4 with .75.
• Grashoff ranks ninth nationally in goals per game (1.06) and leads the ACC with 18 goals.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
• No. 12 Louisville enters the matchup at 13-5 and 3-3 in the ACC. The Deacons defeated the Cardinals 4-2 earlier in the season highlighted by a hat trick from Grashoff.
• Senior goalkeeper Ayeisha McFerran earned ACC Co-Defensive Player of the Week honors after registering four saves in Louisville's 3-1 victory over Kent State.
• The Cardinals rank second in the league in goals allowed, only allowing 1.22 goals per game and 22 goals on the season.
LOOKING AHEAD
• The ACC Championship will continue with the semifinals on Friday and the final on Sunday.
• If the Deacons advance against Louisville, they will face the winner of Syracuse/Duke on Friday at 2:30.
