THE MATCHUPS
• Wake Forest continues ACC play on the road as it takes on Notre Dame and No. 25 Louisville
• Friday's match against Notre Dame is set for 7 p.m. and first serve on Sunday against Louisville will be at 1 p.m.
• Both matches will be broadcast on ACC Network Extra.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Deacons picked up their first ACC win of the season, defeating Boston College 3-2 on Sunday.
• Caroline Rassenfoss led the team with a season-high 18 kills, while three other Deacons, Caitlyn Della (17), Olivia Saunders (10) and Paige Sebesta (10) also recorded season high kills. Della and Saunders both set career highs.
• The Deacons improved to 2-0 in five-set matches.
QUICK HITS
• Head Coach Bill Ferguson returns for his third season at the helm of the program.
• The Demon Deacons return 14 players from last year's squad, led by seniors Hailey Brooke McFadden and Katie Moore, and welcome five freshmen to the club.
• Junior Caroline Rassenfoss is the team's returning kill leader as she tallied 271 kills last season.
• 2018 will mark the first season for Wake Forest Volleyball in the newly renovated Reynolds Gymnasium. Reynolds has been home for the Deacons since 1971. The team spent the previous two seasons in the LJVM Coliseum while the renovations were underway.
• Sophomores lead the way in three categories- Madeline Holt with 559 assists, Olivia Saunders with 49 total blocks and Caroline Kuhn with 15 service aces.
SCOUTING THE FIGHTING IRISH
• Notre Dame enters the matchup ranked fourth in the conference with a 9-5 overall record and 3-1 record on ACC play.
• The Irish are coming off back-to-back conference victories over Clemson and Georgia Tech.
• Notre Dame leads the ACC in opponent hitting percentage (.147) and ranks second in the league in blocks (2.77 blocks/set)
• Junior Jemma Yeadon leads the Irish with 152 kills, while freshman Charley Niego has added 141.
• Defensively, Notre Dame has tallied 135.5 total blocks and have held their opponents to 90.0 stops.
SCOUTING THE CARDINALS
• Louisville jumped into the AVCA rankings this week coming in at No. 25 with a 11-4 record and 4-0 mark in ACC play.
• Melanie McHenry leads the Cardinal offense with 186 kills and ranks second on the team with 115 digs.
• Louisville has held opponents to a .172 hitting percentage through 15 matches.
LOOKING AHEAD
•The Deacs will return to Reynolds Gym for a three-match home-stand taking on Georgia Tech and Clemson on Friday and Sunday, Oct. 12 and 14, and will face Duke in a midweek ACC matchup on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
