No. 25 Louisville Defeats Wake Forest Volleyball 3-0

LOUISVILLE, KY. - No. 25 Louisville (13-4, 6-0 ACC) remained perfect in the ACC with a 3-0 sweep (25-15, 25-17, 25-22) over Wake Forest (6-12, 1-5 ACC) on Sunday.
Myca Mitchell led the Deacons with eight kills, while Olivia Saunders added seven kills and a team-high six blocks. Sophomore setter Madeline Holt notched 25 assists and libero Hailey Brooke McFadden tallied 12 digs for Wake Forest.
The Deacons only had six errors in the match against Louisville's 14, but the recently ranked Cardinals put down 53 kills and a .419 hitting percentage for the match and held Wake to 29 kills and a .274 attack percentage.
Down 2-0, the Deacons battled in the third frame and went on a 4-0 run early in the set to take a 4-2 lead over Louisville. Both teams traded points back-and-forth. Wake Forest went on a 3-0 run late to tie the set 20-20 before the Cardinals struck back with four straight to set up match point. Wake Forest tacked on two more points before the Cardinals clinched the win.
Wake recorded a match-high .407 attack percentage in the third set with 13 kills on 27 attempts and just two errors, but Louisville's 19 kills in the frame sealed the victory for the home team.
As a team, Wake Forest out-blocked the Cardinals 6-3, led by Saunders with three solo and three assisted stops at the net.
Up next, the Deacons return to Reynolds Gymnasium for a three-match home stand against Georgia Tech on Friday, Oct. 12, Clemson on Sunday, Oct. 14, and Duke in a mid-week tilt on Wednesday, Oct. 17.
