
Deacs Open Play at Palos Verdes

PALOS VERDES, Calif. – The Wake Forest women's golf team began its spring schedule Sunday with the opening round of the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge at the Palos Verdes Golf Club. The Demon Deacons shot 26-over during the first round and are in 18th place after 18 holes of the elite tournament.
Jennifer Kupcho led the Demon Deacons during the first round, shooting a 1-over 72 and is T-14th on the individual leaderboard. Emilia Migliaccio shot a first round 74 and Siyun Liu shot a first round 79. Mai Dechathipat and Monica Schumacher rounded out the lineup by shooting 85 and 88, respectively.
"It was a tough day on a challenging course," said head coach Dianne Dailey. "Tomorrow is another and a better day and we are looking forward to getting back out there."
The tournament, which features 12 of the top 25 teams in the nation, will continue Monday and conclude Tuesday at the Palos Verdes Golf Club.
