The Matchup
• Wake Forest plays Appalachian State at David F. Couch Ballpark on Tuesday at 4 p.m. Because the game was moved from Boone to Winston-Salem due to expected poor weather, App State will serve as the home team.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons won their second-straight series over a top-15 series, beating No. 11 Louisville twice over the weekend.
• Griffin Roberts struck out 13 Cardinals on Friday and pitched a career-long 8.1 innings, surrendering just one run as he was named ACC Pitcher of the Week.
• A pair of big home runs helped the Deacs to the series win: DJ Poteet hit a walk-off solo shot in the bottom of the ninth on Friday, and a Johnny Aiello grand slam gave Wake Forest a big lead in the first inning on Sunday.

• Wake Forest has continued its recent ACC success, winning 10 of the past 12 conference series dating back to 2017, opening 2018 with series victories over No. 3 Florida State and No. 11 Louisville.
• The Demon Deacons are a youthful squad in 2018, having started six different freshmen position players, while five rookies have seen time on the mound. Out of the position players, 81 starts have been made by freshmen, compared to 44 for sophomores, 55 for juniors and none by seniors.
• On the mound, More than two-thirds of innings pitched have been by underclassmen. None have been thrown by seniors, 62.1 by juniors, 89.2 innings by sophomores and 29.1 frames from the freshmen.
• The Deacs are coming off their second Super Regional appearance, finishing a game away from the College World Series. Wake Forest finished the year with a 43-20 record and set program records in ACC wins (19), ACC series wins (eight), All-ACC honorees (nine), MLB Draft picks (eight) and home runs (106).

• Appalachian State enters the game with a 5-12 overall record, including an 0-3 mark in the Sun Belt after being swept over the weekend.
