Roberts Named ACC Pitcher of the Week

GREENSBORO, N.C. – Wake Forest junior Griffin Roberts was named the ACC Pitcher of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

Roberts tossed a gem in Wake Forest's series-opening win over UMass Lowell on Friday. In 8.0 innings, he struck out a career-high 11 batters and surrendered one run on just two hits and three walks.

The River Hawks didn't get their first baserunner until a fifth-inning walk. Their only run scored came via a walk, infield single, groundout and RBI fielder's choice.

Roberts has been lights out all season, currently holding a 2-1 record and 2.21 ERA, while opponents are hitting just .167 against him.

His 30 strikeouts are tied for the 11th-most in the country and one off the ACC lead.

Roberts will be back on the mound on Friday when the Demon Deacons take on No. 4 Florida State. First, the Deacs travel to No. 24 Coastal Carolina on Wednesday.
