LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team used dominating singles play to open its final roadtrip with a 4-1 victory over #39 Louisville Friday (April 13) afternoon at the Bass-Rudd Tennis Center.

After dropping the doubles point, the Demon Deacons (19-2, 8-1 ACC) quickly took control of the singles action before finishing off the Cardinals (15-8, 5-5 ACC).

Wake Forest dropped a closely contested doubles point, just the sixth time this year in which the Black and Gold were unable to secure the point. Bar Botzer and Petros Chrysochos improved to a team-best 13-3 this spring as they secured a 6-3 victory in the second doubles position. After Louisville answered with a victory at No. 1 doubles, Court 3 came down to a tiebreaker which they ultimately won, 9-7.

Chrysochos quickly evened the score once singles play began, dropping just one game en route to a 6-0, 6-1 victory at No. 2. It was the 14th consecutive victory for Chrysochos, with all 14 victories coming in straight sets. He also improved to 9-0 against ranked opponents during the run.

Not to be outdone, Botzer followed shortly thereafter with a 6-2, 6-0 victory at the No. 4 position. Skander Mansouri put the Deacs a point away from clinching with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles before Rrezart Cungu closed out the match. After being pushed to the wire in the opening set, Cungu cruised in the second set to a 6-4, 6-0 win. The matches at No. 1 and No. 5 singles went unfinished with Borna Gojo a game away from victory in the top spot and Julian Zlobinsky a game away from forcing a third set in the No. 5 spot.

Wake Forest closes out the road portion of the regular season Sunday (April 15) at Virginia. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
