GREENSBORO, N.C. - Wake Forest women's tennis player Eliza Omirou was named the ACC Freshman of the Week, the league office announced Tuesday, April 17.
The native of Cyprus earned the honor for the second time this season, as she previously won the award on February 27.
Omirou delivered a pair of dominant singles wins at No. 2 for the Demon Deacons. She also went 2-0 in doubles and clinched the doubles point for Wake Forest with a 6-3 win over Louisville.
On Friday, April 13, Omirou defeated NC State's No. 118 Adriana Reami, 6-1, 6-4. She followed that up with a convincing 6-1, 6-0 victory over Louisville's Mariana Humberg in Wake Forest's 5-1 win on Sunday, April 15.
In doubles play, Omirou teamed with Mary Caroline Meredith at No. 2 and provided a 6-1 win over the Wolfpack in addition to her point-clinching victory over the Cardinals.
For the season, Omirou owns a 17-8 record in dual match play, with 16 of those wins coming in the No. 2 position.
The Demon Deacons conclude their regular season this weekend with two road matches, starting on Friday, April 20 with a 3 p.m. tilt at Boston College.
