WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team won its second consecutive ACC regular season title Sunday (April 22), as the Demon Deacons defeated No. 25 NC State, 4-3, on Senior Day.

The Demon Deacons finished the regular season 22-2 overall and 11-1 in ACC play. Wake Forest shared the top spot in the league standings with North Carolina, who also finished league play at 11-1. Wake Forest will enter next week's ACC Tennis Championships as the No. 1 seed by virtue of the Deacs' win over the Tar Heels in Chapel Hill earlier this spring.

Between doubles and singles play Sunday, Wake Forest honored a trio of Deacs as part of Senior Day. Ian Dempster, Skander Mansouri and Christian Seraphim were all recognized as the team played its final regular season home match.

The Deacs received a stiff test from the visiting Wolfpack (16-7, 6-6 ACC), as NC State claimed victories at the No. 2 and 3 doubles positions to clinch the doubles point.

Wake Forest responded in singles, winning the first three matches to jump ahead 3-1. Petros Chrysochos extended his winning streak to 17, all in straight sets, as picked up a 6-3, 6-3 victory in the No. 2 position. Bar Botzer followed shortly thereafter with a 6-4, 6-3 decision at No. 4 singles. Gojo made it three-straight victories for the Deacs with a 6-4, 6-4 victory over No. 43 Alexis Galarneau in the top spot.

After the Wolfpack picked up a three-set victory at No. 5, Mansouri, who became the winningest player in program history in the Deacs' last match, sealed the Wake Forest victory. The senior was pushed to a pair of tiebreakers but won each one by a 7-3 margin to give the Deacs their fourth point.

With the match in hand, NC State picked up a three-set victory at the No. 6 spot to close the match at 4-3 in favor of the Deacs.

Wake Forest is back in action on Friday, April 27, in the quarterfinals of the ACC Tennis Championships. The Demon Deacons await the winner of a second-round match between the eighth-seeded Louisville Cardinals and ninth-seeded Virginia Cavaliers. The Dears were 4-1 winners over Louisville and picked up a 6-1 victory over Virginia during the regular season.
