
Deacs Cruise Past Tigers, 6-1

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team opened a weekend of home competition in dominant fashion, taking down Clemson 6-1 at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex Friday (April 6).
Borna Gojo and Alan Gadjiev set the tone early, winning their No. 3 doubles match by a 6-0 final before Bar Botzer and Christian Seraphim closed out the doubles point with a 6-3 victory at No. 2 doubles.
Wake Forest (17-2, 6-1 ACC) continued to push the pressure, as Gojo quickly extended the lead to 2-0. In the only ranked match of singles play, the eighth-ranked Gojo topped Clemson's (9-7, 3-5 ACC) No. 59 Alex Favrot, 6-1, 6-2.
Eduardo Nava put the Deacs a point from clinching with a victory at No. 6 singles, after being pushed to the wire in the first set, Nava cruised in the second set to a 7-5, 6-0 victory. Botzer clinched the match moments later with a 6-2, 6-4 triumph at No. 3 singles.
Seraphim, who has been sidelined from singles play since February 18 due to injury, returned to the singles lineup and pushed the Wake Forest advantage to 5-0. After taking the first set, 6-2, Seraphim was forced to a third set after falling 6-4 in the second. In a 10-point superbreaker, Seraphim prevailed with a 10-8 decision.
Clemson claimed its lone point with the three-set victory at No. 4 singles. Mansouri capped the day with a 4-6, 6-2, 6-2 win at the No. 2 position.
Wake Forest returns to action this Sunday, April 8, as the Deacs welcome Georgia Tech to town. First serve is set for 1 p.m.
