WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's tennis team had three individuals selected to compete in the NCAA Division I Men's Singles Championship, as the tournament field was announced Wednesday (May 2). Junior Petros Chrysochos, sophomore Borna Gojo and senior Skander Mansouri will all represent the Demon Deacons in the 64-player field.
Chrysochos earned the No. 4 overall seed while Gojo is the No. 7 seed in the field. By virtue of being a top-16 overall seed, Chrysochos and Gojo have automatically secured All-America status. It is the third consecutive singles All-America honor for Chrysochos, who becomes the first player in program history to garner three singles All-America accolades. Gojo earns his second consecutive All-America honor after playing his way into All-America status with a pair of wins a year ago.
Mansouri can earn his third-straight All-America honor with a minimum of two victories in the tournament. For Chrysochos and Mansouri, it will be their third consecutive appearance in the singles tournament, setting a program record for most appearances in the singles championship. Romain Bogaerts also had three singles appearances, however, his first came as a member of Mississippi State before transferring to Wake Forest.
Chrysochos and freshman Bar Botzer are listed as the first alternate for the doubles championship and can earn a spot in the field if any of the 24 at-large doubles teams withdraw from the competition.
The complete singles and doubles brackets, with first-round matchups, will be unveiled just before the start of the individual portion of the championships. Singles competition will begin on Wednesday, May 23, while doubles play will start on Thursday, May 24. All matches will be played at the Wake Forest Tennis Complex, which is serving as the finals host site for the first time in school history.
