
Deacs Finish Sixth at Shortened Cougar Classic

Opening event of the year shortened to 36 holes due to Hurricane Florence

CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team finished sixth at its opening event of the 2018-19 season as evacuation orders for Hurricane Florence shortened the Cougar Classic to 36 holes. The Demon Deacons shot 6-under during the second round at Yeamans Hall Club to finish the event at 5-under par in the first tournament of the Kim Lewellen era.
Siyun Liu led Wake Forest with a T-9th finish at 5-under, posting a second-round 68 after an opening round 71. Reigning NCAA Champion Jennifer Kupcho was at 1-under after carding rounds of 73 and 70. Emilia Migliaccio shot even par 72 in both rounds of the event while Letizia Bagnoli was 1-over in her collegiate debut with rounds of 73 and 72. Mai Dechathipat rounded out the lineup by posting rounds of 76 and 77.
The Demon Deacons return to action September 21-23 for the Mason Rudolph Championship, held at the Vanderbilt Legends Club in Franklin, Tenn.
