THE MATCHUPS
• Wake Forest closes out tournament play as it travels to West Virginia for the Mountaineer Classic, Sept. 14 and 15 at the WVU Coliseum.
• The Deacons will face Penn on Friday and Morehead State and West Virginia on Saturday.
• All three matches will be live streamed at wvusports.com/watch.
LAST TIME OUT
•The Deacon offense came alive in the Wake Forest Invitational as they earned its first three wins of the season, sweeping Elon and Akron, and taking down Georgia Southern in the first five-set match of the year.
•Over the weekend, sophomore Myca Mitchell continued to record career-highs as she tallied 34 total kills, 15 in Wake's win over Georgia Southern.
• Junior Caitlyn Della earned Tournament MVP honors, making the All-Tournament team for the third consecutive time this season. Hailey Brooke McFadden and Caroline Rassenfoss also earned All-Tournament honors.
QUICK HITS
• Head Coach Bill Ferguson returns for his third season at the helm of the program.
• The Demon Deacons return 14 players from last year's squad, led by seniors Hailey Brooke McFadden and Katie Moore, and welcome five freshmen to the club.
• Junior Caroline Rassenfoss is the team's returning kill leader as she tallied 271 kills last season.
• 2018 will mark the first season for Wake Forest Volleyball in the newly renovated Reynolds Gymnasium. Reynolds has been home for the Deacons since 1971. The team spent the previous two seasons in the LJVM Coliseum while the renovations were underway.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
• Penn enters the weekend at 3-5 on the year.
• Sophomore Raven Sulaimon paces the Quakers with 89 kills through 29 sets (3.07 k/s).
• The Deacons look to even the series with Penn as the Quakers hold on to a 1-0 advantage. The teams' last meeting was in 1982 as Quakers won 2-0.
SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• Morehead State sits at 8-2 on the season, with its only losses coming against Marshall and Wright State.
• Sophomore Olivia Lohmeier leads the Eagles with 125 kills in 34 sets (3.68 k/s). She has been named OVC Offensive Player of the Week for two consecutive weeks.
• The Deacons are 2-0 all-time against Morehead State
SCOUTING THE MOUNTAINEERS
• Host West Virginia enters the Tournament with a 4-5 record.
• Kristen Lux and Katelyn Evans lead the way at the net with 76 kills each. Katie Demeo has paces the way in stops with 38 total blocks.
• The Deacons look to break the 2-2 overall series tie with a win. Wake Forest swept the Mountaineers in 2010.
LOOKING AHEAD
•ACC play begins next weekend as the Deacons make the trip to Florida to face Miami on Friday, Sept. 21 at 7 p.m. and close the weekend against Florida State on Sunday, Sept. 23 at 1 p.m.
