THE MATCHUP
• Wake Forest prepares for two road matchups between ACC opponent and No. 13 Boston College on Friday, Sept. 7  and Northeasten on Sunday, Sept. 9. 
• The Deacons dropped four spots to No. 18 in the latest NFHCA Poll. They were previously ranked 14th. 

LAST TIME OUT
• The Demon Deacons went 0-2 in Philadelphia, as they fell  0-1 to Penn in double overtime and were shut out 0-4 by No. 10 Princeton. 

QUICK HITS
• Head coach Jen Averill returns for her 27th season at the helm of the program  
• The Deacons return 13 players from last year's squad, led by Jule Grashoff, who led the team with 16 goals and 14 assists. The club also welcomes eight new freshmen. 
• Grashoff was recently tabbed Preseason ALL-ACC, voted on by the league's seven coaches. Wake Forest was picked to finish seventh in the conference. 
• Former U.S. National Team captain Melissa Gonzalez joins Wake Forest as an assistant coach. Gonzalez spent the past eight years competing with the U.S. Women's National Team and representing Team USA at two Olympic Games. 

SCOUTING THE EAGLES
• The Eagles enter the meeting ranked No. 13 in the latest NFHCA poll, but are coming off an  0-2 weekend at  the annual ACC/B1G Cup, falling to Maryland and Northwestern. 
• Three players, Brooke Matherson, Fusine Govaert and Fredrique Haverhals have posted two goals  each for the Eagles so far this season. 
• Jonna Kennedy leads the Eagles in the net with eight saves, while Sarah Dwyer has added six. 
• Boston College was picked to finish sixth in the ACC, while Wake Forest was picked to finish seventh. 

SCOUTING THE HUSKIES
• Northeastern has posted a 1-2 record  picking up its first win of the season last weekend over Holy Cross. 
•  Sophomore Camille O'Conor has scored three of the Huskies four goals and has added one assist. 
• Keeper Julia Gluyas has played every minute for Northestern in the net, tallying 20 saves and allowing seven goals. 
•  Wake Forest holds a 2-0 lead over the Huskies. The Deacons won the last meeting in 2016 2-1 in overtime. 

LOOKING AHEAD
•The Deacs will open the season at home as it welcomes William and Mary on Friday, Sept. 14 at 7 p.m. and New Hampshire on Sunday, Sept. 16.
