COLCHESTER, Vt. - Former Wake Forest field hockey standout Jenny Everett has been inducted to the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame, the organization announced on Wednesday afternoon.
Following an All-American career at Rutland High School, Everett joined Wake Forest field hockey in 1997. She later became the first field hockey player to be inducted into the Wake Forest Hall of Fame in 2013.
"Congrats to Jenny," head coach Jennifer Averill said. "This is a much deserved honor that has been earned through an unwavering commitment to excellence in everything this woman does."
Just five games into her freshman season, Everett made her mark with a school record five goals and two assists in a 10-0 win over Appalachian State. As a junior, Everett helped lead the Deacs to an 18-4 record, a No. 3 ranking and its first NCAA Tournament bid. She ended her career in 2000 as Wake Forest's all-time leader in goals with 76 and in points with 186. She was named ACC Player of the Week on three occasions during her career and earned All-South Region honors in all four seasons.
During her time at Wake Forest, the Rutland, Va., native earned first team All-American and All-ACC honors in 1999 and 2000. Following her record-setting career with the Deacons, Everett went on to join the US World Cup team. In 2002, she was selected to the ACC 50th Anniversary Field Hockey Team.
Everett joins 12 other athletes being inducted to the Vermont Sports Hall of Fame. The seventh Hall of Fame Class will be formally inducted on April 13, 2019 at the 2019 Vermont Sports Hall of Fame Induction Dinner and Celebration to be held at Trader Duke's Hotel in South Burlington.
