Winston-Salem, N.C. - The Wake Forest men's and women's track & field programs won a total of seven events on Saturday at the Wake Forest Invitational in Winston-Salem. The Demon Deacons competed along with 25 other colleges and universities from throughout the southeast.
In the field, freshman Kane Aldrich was first to get Wake Forest in the winners circle with a victory in the men's pole vault. Aldrich set a personal best with a mark of 4.55m. In the women's pole vault, the Deacs dominated the competition with Tesia Kempski coming away victorious (3.85m). Darby Deutsch (2nd-place - 3.60m), Haidyn Turner (3rd-place - 3.45m) and Elaina Roeder (4th-place - 3.45m) rounded out the top four. Alexandria Florent built off her second-place finish a week ago and earned a victory in the women's high jump at 1.68m. Alva Hicks earned a victory for the second-straight meet, this time in the women's weighted throw with a mark of 19.61m.
On the track, sophomore Cydney Delley won the women's 200m dash with a time of 25.48. The combination of Evan Simmons, Dakota Greenwalt, Kaleb Bryant and Ethan Roach proved to be the right formula for the Demon Deacons in the 4x400m relay. The group took the crown with a time of 3:25.71. Completing the sweep, the women's 4x400m relay team cruised to victory with a time of 3:57.74.
