The Deacons slowly chipped away at the lead with a 9-0 run highlighted by a rebound and And-1 from Wright, Jr., with just under 10 minutes to play, to give the Deacs a little bit of momentum to make some runs.
The defense held the Cards without a basket for nearly four minutes and the offense followed with another 10-0 run out of the timeout, with seven of the 10 points off the hands of Brandon Childress. However, Louisville's commanding lead was too much to overcome.
Nine of Childress's 13 points came in the second frame. Aaron Spivey saw a career-high 10 minutes on the court and pulled down a career-best three rebounds. At the final media timeout, the Cards maintained a 74-54 lead and wrapped the game with an 8-0 run.
Up next, the Deacons will travel to Clemson to take on the Tigers on Sunday at noon.
