
No. 25 Louisville Defeats Wake Forest, 3-0

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.- No. 25 Louisville defeated Wake Forest volleyball, 3-0 (25-19, 25-19, 25-17) on Sunday afternoon in Reynolds Gym.
Senior Caitlyn Della led the efforts for the Deacons with 12 kills and three blocks. Madeline Holt collected 29 assists and Caitlin Clarke recorded 12 digs. Louisville hit .337 in the match, while holding the Deacs to .137.
Louisville jumped out to an early 10-5 lead in the first frame. Wake called timeout after the Cards took a 19-10 lead. Three errors from Louisville allowed Wake to string together a 4-1 run, but Louisville remained in control of a 20-14 lead. Wake put three more points up, but Louisville took the first stanza 25-17 for a 1-0 match lead.
The Cardinal offense remained dominant in the second set hitting .400. Louisville posted five aces in the set, including three straight aces from Melanie McHenry. Freshman Peyton Suess gave the Deacs a 6-5 lead with an ace, but Louisville regained the lead for the remainder of the frame, despite Wake tying the set four times.
The Deacons trailed early in the third set, but a kill from Suess put Wake back within two at 11-9. The Cardinals hopped back in front 16-12, forcing Wake to call a timeout. The Cardinals continued their momentum finishing the final set with another 25-27 decision.
The Deacs continue ACC play on Friday and Sunday as they take on Georgia Tech and Clemson on the road.
