The Matchup
• The Deacs look to remain undefeated at home with a pair of weekend matches. Wake Forest will take on Winthrop on Saturday and will open ACC play on Sunday against Clemson.
• First serve for both matches is set for noon.
Meet the Deacs
• Wake Forest is led by three seniors, captains Emma Davis, Anna Ulyashchenko and Joanna Zalewski.
• Chandler Carter, Alexis Franco and MC Meredith return for their junior seasons, alongside lone sophomore Eliza Omirou.
• Wake Forest welcomes three freshman to the squad in Anna Brylin, Peyton Pesavento and Saby Nihalani
Season in review
• The Deacs finished the 2018 season with a 20-14 overall record and 5-9 mark in ACC play.
• The program's 20 wins were the most since the 2002 season.
• The Deacons advanced to the second round of the of the NCAA Championships for the first time since 2007.
• Wake Forest won the Ohio State ITA Kick-Off Regional Championship to advance to the ITA National Indoor Team Championships for the first time since 2009.
• Emma Davis earned a top-25 ranking (25) to become the first Wake Forest women's player to do so since 2011. Davis was also named First Team All-ACC.
• Eliza Omirou had the ninth best freshman season in program history after stringing together 49 combined wins in singles and doubles.
Scouting the Eagles
• The Eagles enter the weekend at 4-2 after picking up wins at home against Davidson and College of Charleston.
• Winthrop is led by senior Lauren Proctor, who has posted a 5-0 record on court one. She is the reigning Big South Player of the Week.
• The Eagle duo of Proctor and Megan Kauffman moved up to 20 in the latest ITA rankings.
Scouting the Tigers
• Clemson makes the trip to Winston-Salem with a 5-4 record and 1-0 mark in ACC play after defeating Virginia Tech 5-2 last weekend.
• Fernanda Navarro leads the Tigers in the ITA rankings at No. 64, while the doubles tandem of Navarro and Marie Leduc ranks second in the nation.
