No. 1 Deacs Cruise Past No. 20/23 Cowboys

Wake Forest improves to 6-0 with a 6-1 victory over Oklahoma State Sunday afternoon
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The top-ranked Wake Forest men's tennis team improved to 6-0 on the season with a 6-1 victory over No. 20/23 Oklahoma State Sunday (Feb. 3) afternoon inside the WF Indoor Tennis Center.
The Demon Deacons dominated the action, winning the doubles point and the first five singles matches before Oklahoma State (4-2) claimed the final match of the afternoon.
The Deacs jumped out to the early lead Sunday with victories at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions to take the doubles point. Petros Chrysochos and Bar Botzer picked up an early break and cruised to a 6-2 victory at the top doubles position before the Cowboys evened doubles with a victory at the No. 3 position. With the point on the line, Julian Zlobinsky and Alan Gadjiev clinched the point with a 6-3 win at the No. 2 spot.
Wake Forest took the opening set on four of the six singles courts, with Chrysochos, Botzer, Efstathiou and Rrezart Cungu all cruising to first-set victories. Chrysochos quickly made it 2-0 with a 6-3, 6-0 victory in the top singles spot. Efstathiou added to the Wake Forest total, making it 3-0 with a 6-2, 6-3 decision at the No. 3 spot. Cungu clinched the match with a 6-3, 6-4 win in the fourth singles position.
With the outcome determined, Botzer pushed the advantage to 5-0 with a straight-sets win at No. 2 singles. Zlobinsky responded from a set down to come back and defeat Brady Draheim at No. 6 singles to extend the score to 6-0 in favor of the Deacs. After dropping the opening set 3-6, Zlobinsky took the second, 6-4, before winning the superbreaker, 10-3.
Sunday's final match went to Oklahoma State, as Yuval Solomon dropped a three-set decision at No. 5 singles.
The Deacs hit the road for the first time this season on Friday, Feb. 8, as Wake Forest travels to face Virginia in a nonconference match. First serve is set for 5 p.m.
