Heppenstall Gears Up for NCAA Indoor Championships

The senior will be making his fourth NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championship appearance
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – Robert Heppenstall of Wake Forest track and field will represent the Demon Deacons in the men's 800m at the NCAA Division I Indoor Championships, held March 8-9 in Birmingham, Ala.
This will be Heppenstall's, a three-time indoor All-American, fourth appearance in the NCAA Indoor Championships. His best finish came last year, as a junior, finishing third to earn All-American honors. His freshman season he took fifth overall with a time of 1:49.06 while his sophomore year he also finished fifth with a time of 1:47.98.
The top 16 fastest times in the nation are invited to compete in the NCAA Indoor Championships and Heppenstall enters this weekend ranked seventh in the country. His best time this season is 1:48.33, following that up with a facility record and second career ACC title with an 800m time of 1:46.87.
The men's 800m preliminary round will be held Friday, March 8 at approximately 8:27 p.m. EST The top three runners in each heat plus the next two fastest times will then advance to the event finals, held Saturday at 6:40 p.m. EST.
The meet will be streamed live online on ESPN3. The broadcast window begins at 6:30 p.m. on Friday and 5 p.m. on Saturday.
