Deacs In Third After Round One at Darius Rucker

HILTON HEAD ISLAND, S.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team opened play Friday at the Darius Rucker Intercollegiate with the tournament's first round at Long Cove Club. The Demon Deacons shot 1-over to finish the opening round in third place, three shots off the lead.
In an event that features 11 of the top 20 teams in the nation, the No. 13 Demon Deacons trail only No. 10 South Carolina (2-under) and No. 19 Florida State (even) after 18 holes, while leading four top-10 teams.
Senior Jennifer Kupcho led the Deacs during the first round, shooting a 2-under 69 to finish the round T-2nd, one shot off the lead. Sophomore Emilia Migliaccio also shot in red numbers, posting a 1-under 70.
Freshman Letizia Bagnoli shot even par 71 and junior Siyun Liu shot 75 to round out the scoring four for the Demon Deacons. Freshman Vanessa Knecht shot a 78 while Monica Schumacher, playing as an individual, tied her collegiate best round of 76.
The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate continues Saturday and concludes Sunday at Long Cove Club.
