The Matchup
• Wake Forest hits the road for six straight games, beginning with a trip to Charlotte on Tuesday night.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons improved to 9-3 in the month of April with a series victory over No. 8 NC State over the weekend. After splitting the first two games, Wake Forest stormed back from an early 7-0 deficit to take the lead in the seventh inning and claim an eventual 9-8 win.
• On Thursday, Colin Peluse tossed 6.0 innings of three-hit ball, allowing one run while striking out seven to earn the victory.
• Bobby Seymour tallied at least two RBIs in each game, finishing the weekend 5-for-13 with a homer, double and seven RBIs.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The back end of Wake Forest's bullpen has been impressive all season. William Fleming, Antonio Menendez and Bobby Hearn each have ERAs under 3.00. Fleming has recorded six saves as the Deacons closer and a 2.06 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .176 against Hearn, who is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. Menendez has a 5-1 record, earned recent wins vs. Pitt and Liberty, and has struck out 53 batters in 41.1 innings.
• Bobby Seymour is hitting .380 and leads the ACC with 60 RBIs on 11 doubles and seven homers. Chris Lanzilli is batting .343 and ranks in the top-10 in the ACC with 16 doubles, 10 homers and 46 RBIs. Patrick Frick ranks third in the ACC with a .376 batting average to go along with nine doubles, four homers, 35 RBIs and six stolen bases.
Opponent & Series History
• Wake Forest leads the all-time series against Charlotte, 43-29-1. The Deacs snapped a two-game skid with a 14-6 victory last month. In that game, Michael Turconi had three hits and four runs scored and Bobby Seymour was 2-for-2 with a walk, while Cole McNamee and Brendan Tinsman each hit home runs.
• The 49ers enter the game with a 14-24-1 overall record, and are currently on a four-game skid. Charlotte fell to Gardner-Webb last Tuesday and was swept by Southern Miss over the weekend. The 49ers are led by Harris Yett, hitting .323 with 18 doubles, seven homers and 31 RBIs.
