The Matchup
• Wake Forest heads to Florida State for a three-game league series this weekend on ACC Network Extra.
Last Time Out
• The Demon Deacons improved to 10-3 in the month of April, cruising to an 18-6 victory at Charlotte on Tuesday.
• Wake Forest jumped out to a 13-0 lead and hit four homers in the game, including two from Shane Muntz and one apiece from Cole McNamee and Bruce Steel.
• Tyler Witt made the start and allowed one unearned run over 5.0 innings, earning the victory for the second-straight game after also picking up the win in the series finale against No. 8 NC State.
Wake Forest Storylines
• The back end of Wake Forest's bullpen has been impressive all season. William Fleming, Antonio Menendez and Bobby Hearn each have ERAs under 3.00. Fleming has recorded six saves as the Deacons closer and a 2.06 ERA. Opponents are hitting just .176 against Hearn, who is 2-0 with a 2.08 ERA. Menendez has a 5-1 record, earned recent wins vs. Pitt and Liberty, and has struck out 53 batters in 41.1 innings.
• Bobby Seymour is hitting .385 and leads the ACC with 64 RBIs on 11 doubles and seven homers. Chris Lanzilli is batting .348 and ranks in the top-10 in the ACC with 16 doubles, 10 homers and 48 RBIs. Patrick Frick ranks third in the ACC with a .380 batting average to go along with nine doubles, four homers, 35 RBIs and six stolen bases.
Opponent & Series History
• Florida State has a commanding 90-29 lead in the series history. Wake Forest had never won back-to-back series against the Seminoles until winning each of the last three in 2016, 2017 and 2018. Florida State was ranked in the top 25 all three of those years, and in the top five in 2016 and 2018.
• Florida native Bruce Steel has excelled in Tallahassee, hitting three homers and two doubles in five games at FSU.
• The Seminoles enter the weekend with a 26-14 overall record and wins in seven of their last eight games. After sweeping Clemson, FSU took 2-of-3 from Virginia and then swept Stetson in a pair of midweek games. Preseason All-American Drew Mendoza has a team-high 12 homers, while two-way player J.C.
