CHAPEL HILL, NC- The 22nd-ranked women's tennis team (17-7, 7-5 ACC) fell to No. 2 North Carolina 7-0 on the road on Sunday afternoon.
The Tar Heels earned the early advantage, taking the first two doubles matches for the initial point. UNC (24-1, 12-0 ACC) picked up the first win on court three 6-1. No. 8 Jessie Aney and Alexa Graham defeated No. 37 Emma Davis and Chandler Carter 6-3 in the top spot to head to singles with a 1-0 lead.
The Tar Heels controlled the momentum, sweeping the singles matches. Carter earned a 6-2 first set win, but her opponent Aney rallied back to take the next two sets 6-1, 6-1.
Davis and Eliza Omirou battled, but each fell in a first set tiebreak on courts one and three, respectively. Omirou dropped the second set 6-1. Davis was the last to finish, battling for each point, but the senior ultimately fell 6-2 in the second frame.
Wake Forest is back on the road on Friday (April 12) against Virginia Tech at 3 p.m., before hosting Pitt on Sunday (April 14) at 10 a.m. for Senior Day.
