Tigers Hold Off Demon Deacons, 10-9

Wake Forest scored five runs in the ninth, but it wasn't enough to overcome the 10-4 deficit.
Bobby Seymour and Chris Lanzilli combined to drive in eight of the Demon Deacons' (29-25, 13-16 ACC) nine runs. Seymour hit a three-run homer in the eighth to cut an 8-1 deficit to 8-4. After the Tigers (33-22, 15-14 ACC) scored twice in the bottom of the eighth to extend their lead to 10-4, Logan Harvey hit an RBI single and Lanzilli followed with a grand slam to make the score 10-9.
Seymour flied out to the wall in straightaway center to end the game.
Wake Forest again struggled to get to Clemson's starting pitcher. Jacob Hennessy allowed two earned runs in 7.1 innings on six hits and a walk with seven strikeouts.
Wake Forest's bullpen kept the Deacs in the game, as Shane Muntz (1.2 innings), Carter Bach (1.0) and Bobby Hearn (0.2) each had scoreless outings.
Clemson started the second inning with seven straight hits to score five runs in the inning. Grayson Byrd homered in the Tigers' three-run fourth inning. Michael Green led the Tigers with four hits, two doubles and three RBIs.
Seymour now has 89 RBIs this season, most in NCAA Division I since UNCW's Nick Feight totaled 91 in the 2016 season. Seymour ranks second in program history, five from the program record.
