The Matchups
• Wake Forest will make its fourth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament as the Deacs travel to the overall No. 1 Seed Georgia to face Austin Peay in the First Round.
• The Demon Deacons face the Governors at 9 a.m. on Saturday. A win would advance the Deacs to the second round where they would face the winner of No. 1 Georgia and Alabama State on Sunday at 2 p.m.
Last Time Out
• Wake defeated No. 40 Boston College 5-2 in the second round of the ACC Championships in Cary, N.C.
• In the quarterfinals, Wake fell to No. 11 Florida State 4-0.
Quick Hits
• Wake's nine ACC wins are the most in program history.
• Emma Davis earned second team All-ACC honors, while Eliza Omirou garnered third team honors. It was the first time since 2010 that two players made All-ACC.
• Davis upset 11th-ranked Kenya Jones of Georgia Tech on March 8, to earn her 100th career-singles victory. She is the first player to reach this milestone since 2002.
• With 113 career wins at Wake Forest, head coach Jeff Wyshner is the second winningest coach, behind Lew Gerrard who picked up 191 victories from 1987-99.
• Davis and doubles partner Chandler Carter have earned over 50 career doubles wins together. They are just the fifth Wake duo to accomplish this feat and the first since Janet Bergman and Bea Bielik in 1999-02.
Scouting the Opponents
• Austin Peay makes the trip to Athens with a perfect 22-0 record after winning the OVC title. The Governors seek to be the first OVC team to win an NCAA tournament match.
• Alabama State is the fourth seed in the four-team tournament. The Hornets are 13-8 overall and 8-0 in the SWAC. They earned the automatic bid after defeating Alcorn State in the SWAC Championship.
• Host team Georgia is the number one overall seed in the tournament. The Bulldogs posted a perfect regular season, but fell to South Carolina in the SEC Championship match.
• Georgia features five players in the top-125, led by Katarina Jokic ranked No. 2 nationally.
Up Next
• If Wake wins both matches this weekend, the Deacs will advance to the two-team super regionals which will be hosted by the higher-seeded team on May 10-11.
• The NCAA quarter, semi and final rounds will take place in Lake Nona, Fla., May 16-19.
• NCAA individual matches will follow May 20-26. Davis qualified for the singles tournament, while her and partner Carter are third alternates for the doubles championships.
