WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The 18th ranked Deacon Deacons (1-5) fell 2-0 to No. 17 Boston College (4-3) to open ACC play on Friday evening at Kentner Stadium.

Although the Demon Deacons held a 11-10 shot advantage and a 8-4 edge in corners, Boston College goalkeeper Jonna Kennedy made six saves to keep Wake Forest off the scoreboard.

The Eagles Brigid Wood scored with an assist from Fusine Govaert at the 28:15 minute to put Boston College up 1-0. The Eagles added another goal at the 43:47 mark to give the Eagles the deciding 2-0 advantage. Margo Carlin scored on an assist from Charlotte Von Huelson

Junior Anne van Hoof led the Deacs with five total shots, three of which were on goal. However, Kennedy was there for the save on all three. Freshman Maggie Dickman added two shots for Wake Forest.

Up next, the Demon Deacons will stay in Kentner Stadium as they look to snap a three game skid. They host No. 13 Liberty this Sunday, Sept. 22 at 1:00 p.m.
