No. 18 Wake Forest Shuts Out No. 13 Liberty

9/22/2019 4:29:00 PM | Field Hockey

Winston-Salem, N.C.- A penalty corner goal from Nat Friedman with assists from Meike Lanckohr and Anne van Hoof early at the 17th minute pushed No.18 Wake Forest (2-5) over No. 13 Liberty, 1-0.

The Deacs ended the Flames five game win streak while snapping a three game skid of their own.

The Flames out-shot the Deacons 9-2, but the Wake Forest defense held strong. Goalkeeper Isla Bint made four great saves in the cage to hold the Flames at bay and improve to 2-5 on the year.

Freshman Nat Friedman led the Deacon offense with two shots, two on target. The Flames were led by Jill Bolton with five shots with only one being on goal. Wake Forest was able to score off one of its two penalty corners to create the deciding advantage.

Wake Forest will take a break from ACC play on Friday, September 27th when the Demon Deacons host Stanford at Kentner Stadium at 6 p.m.
