Demon Deacons Open Spring Season in Texas and California

DALLAS, Texas – The Wake Forest women's tennis team started its spring schedule Friday at the Metroplex Mania.
In the opening day of competition, the Demon Deacons faced off against Denver in singles play while playing against host SMU in doubles.
Four Deacs grabbed wins in singles play with Saby Nihalani and Chandler Carter winning in straight sets. Both Nihalani and Carter dropped just two games total en route to their first singles wins in 2020.
Earlier in doubles play, Nihalani teamed up with Anna Brylin win 6-4 over Tcherkes Zade/Nylander.

PALM SPRINGS, Calif. – On the west coast, the No. 10 ranked doubles team of MC Meredith and Eliza Omirou started their spring season at the National Collegiate Tennis Classic.
Competing in the east draw, Meredith and Omirou cruised by Shakhraichuk and Sorokolet (Baylor) in the quarterfinals, winning 8-1.
Both Demon Deacons also competed in the singles bracket in Palm Springs. Meredith won her first match of the day in straight sets before falling in the Round of 16.
After receiving a bye to the Round of 16, Omirou defeated Klanecek (Arizona State) in straight-set fashion (6-0, 6-2) and advanced on to Saturday's semifinal round.
