Demon Deacons Take on No. 9 NC State in Raleigh on Sunday

Wake Forest will be in search of its first ranked win since 2017 and first win over a top-10 team since 2012

RALEIGH, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's basketball team travels to Reynolds Coliseum to take on No. 9 NC State on Sunday.
 
The Demon Deacons (11-6, 4-2 ACC) are 4-1 since the start of 2020 and coming off a win over Virginia on Thursday night. Junior Ivana Raca has helped the team to a hot start in the New Year, averaging 18.8 points and 8.8 rebounds over the five games.
 
The Wolfpack (15-1, 5-1 ACC) have won all 10 games at home this season including a 68-51 win over No. 13 Florida State on Thursday. Elissa Cunane went for 20 points and 10 rebounds in the game. The senior center is averaging 17.4 points and 10.5 rebounds on the season.

Tipoff for Sunday's game against the Wolfpack is scheduled for 2 p.m. (ET) in Raleigh. The game can also be seen on RSN.

BRINK OF HISTORY
Senior Alex Sharp is just 11 rebounds away from becoming the sixth player in program history to grab 800-plus rebounds in a career. She also needs just 37 points to join the 1000-point club.
 
Sharp would be the fifth player coached by Jen Hoover to join the 1000-point club and the fifth player in program history to have 1000-plus points and 800-plus rebounds in a career.

  • The Demon Deacons led the entire way en route to their fifth consecutive home win. Wake Forest outrebounded Virginia by 19 with the Deacs pulling down 16 offensive rebounds.
    • Junior Ivana Raca and Gina Conti led the way offensively as both players went for 20-plus points in the win. Raca had 15 alone in the first two quarters to help spark Wake Forest.

Getting to the free throw line has been a key to success for the Demon Deacons this season. When getting to the charity stripe more than their opponent, the Deacs are 7-2 this season.

When it shoots 75 percent or better from the line, Wake Forest is 8-0 with a 2-0 record in ACC play.

The Demon Deacons are back home in Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum on Thursday to take on No. 13 Florida State. Wake Forest has won its last five games at home dating back to mid-November.
