
No. 24 Demon Deacons Win 7-0 against Charleston and Winthrop

Nationally ranked Wake Forest drops just two sets on Saturday en route to sweep home openers
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The No. 24 Wake Forest women's tennis team grabbed a pair of wins in the first two home matches of the season on Saturday.
The Demon Deacons (2-0) had a perfect start to the day, winning 7-0 in the opening match against College of Charleston. The No. 10 doubles pairing of Eliza Omirou and MC Meredith cruised to a 6-0 win.
It was their 31st career win as a doubles pairing, tying for 10th most in program history.
Omirou was one of five Wake players to win in straight sets in singles action. Chandler Carter grabbed her first singles win of the year without dropping a single game (6-0, 6-0).
Wake Forest closed out the day with another 7-0 sweep. This time the Deacs defeated the reigning Big South regular season and tournament champions, Winthrop.
Against the Eagles, Omirou came up with her third win of the afternoon. Facing the No. 95 ranked singles player in Alisa Solovena, Omirou dropped just three games in the match, winning 6-1, 6-2.
Her doubles partner MC Meredith had a dominant win in the No. 6 singles match. Meredith did not drop a game to Angela Georgieva.
