The Demon Deacons nearly grabbed the doubles point and was up in multiple singles matches at the conclusion of play
STILLWATER, Okla. – In the first round of ITA Kickoff Weekend, the No. 24 Wake Forest women's tennis team fell to No. 25 Ohio State, 4-0, on Saturday.
Despite not earning a point, the Demon Deacons (2-1) led in multiple singles matches and nearly won the doubles point.
No. 82 ranked Anna Campana took the opening set (7-5) in her singles match against No. 125 ranked Kolie Allen. Chandler Carter had a chance to close out No. 58 ranked Irina Canto Siemers in straight sets after winning the opening frame 7-5. The second set was tied 5-5 when play concluded.
After dropping the opening set in her singles match, Eliza Omirou had a dominant 5-2 lead in the second set when the match ended.
The Deacs nearly claimed the doubles point as the second pairing of Carolyn Campana and Carter grabbed a 6-4 win over the Buckeyes. In the No. 1 doubles match, No. 10 ranked pairing of Omirou and MC Meredith nearly pulled out a win, falling 7-6 in a tie breaker.
