The Matchup

  • The Demon Deacons on Saturday will face in-state rival NC State in Raleigh.

  • Wake Forest enters the matchup with a 6-1-0 overall record and a 4-1-0 conference record after a hard fought 2-0 victory vs. Clemson last Friday.

  • The Demon Deacons on Oct. 3 beat the Wolfpack 4-1 in their first meeting this season at Spry Stadium.

  • The clash will be the 47th all-time between the two North Carolina programs with Wake Forest holding a 30-11-5 advantage in the series.

  • The game will be the fall regular season finale for the Demon Deacons, as they will next turn their attention to the ACC Men's Soccer Championship.

Last Time Out

  • Wake Forest exacted revenge for its only loss so far this season, defeating then-No. 3 Clemson 2-0 on Senior Day.

  • Sophomore Nico Benalcazar opened the scoring in the 40th minute with an assist from freshman Jahlane Forbes, who checked into the game just one minute before.

  • Sophomore Calvin Harris notched a goal in the 64th minute after senior Machop Chol provided a ball across the face of the goal.

  • Goalkeeper Andrew Pannenberg recorded four saves in the Demon Deacons' third-straight shutout at Spry.

Quick Hits

  • The Demon Deacons have claimed the ACC South Region after North Carolina and NC State tied 0-0 on Sunday afternoon.

  • Entering Saturday's matchup with NC State, the Demon Deacons are second in the ACC in scoring at 2.29 goals per match. Harris and junior Kyle Holcomb lead Wake Forest in scoring with four goals apiece.

  • Holcomb (two) is one of only three players in the ACC with multiple game-winning goals this season.

  • Pannenberg ranks third nationally in goals against average (.771) and fifth in save percentage (.792).

Scouting the Wolfpack

  • NC State enters the matchup with an 0-5-1 overall record and is 0-4-1 in ACC play.

  • The Wolfpack was able to hold then-No. 5 North Carolina to a scoreless draw on Sunday afternoon.

  • The scoreless tie against the Tar Heels was the Wolfpack's only shutout of the year.

  • Have been outscored 12-3 by their opponents so far in the fall.

  • Still in search of their first win of the fall, as NC State and Syracuse are the only two ACC teams without a victory so far this season.

Looking Ahead

  • Following the conclusion of Saturday night's match, Wake Forest will turn its attention to the ACC Tournament beginning with the quarterfinals on Sunday, Nov. 15 at Spry Stadium.
