Wake Forest Hits the Road Against Nationally-Ranked NC State

A fifth straight win would mark the Demon Deacons longest winning streak since the 2017-18 season

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -  The Wake Forest women's basketball team travels to Raleigh to take on No. 4 NC State on Thursday night.

The Demon Deacons (4-1, 1-0 ACC) are on a four-game winning streak, most recently beating ACC and Big Four opponent North Carolina, 57-54, at LJVM. Senior guard Gina Conti, senior forward Ivana Raca, and junior forward Christina Morra combined for 42 of Wake's 57 points against the Tar Heels.

The Wolfpack (6-0, 1-0 ACC) are coming off a come-from-behind win at Boston College on Sunday. Trailing by 16 points with 6:15 remaining in the game, NC State scored 26 of the final 30 points from that moment and held Boston College to just one make from the floor in the final eight minutes of action.

Tipoff for Thursday night's game at NC State is scheduled for 7 p.m. (ET) in Reynolds Coliseum. The game can also be seen on Regional Sports Networks.

AGAINST IN-STATE OPPONENTS
After a pair of wins against in-state foes Davidson, Charlotte and North Carolina this season, Wake Forest has improved to 11-3 versus all in-state opponents over the last two seasons.
 
This includes the Deacs' 4-1 against Big 4 opponents over the same span.

Wake Forest is coming off a 57-54 win over North Carolina on Dec. 10. The Demon Deacons will also travel to Chapel Hill on Sunday for their third consecutive Big 4 game.

  • The victory extended Wake Forest's series winning streak to three games, the longest since 1988-90 when the Deacs won six games in a row against the Tar Heels.

RECEIVING VOTES 
After starting the season 4-1, Wake Forest is receiving votes in the AP Top-25 poll. The Deacs had nine votes when the poll was released on Monday, Nov. 30, five votes on Monday, Dec. 7 and most recently 25 votes on Monday, Dec. 14.

The Demon Deacons are looking to crack the AP Top-25 poll for the first time since the 1987-88 season when Wake Forest was ranked five times, elevating as high as No. 16 in the nation.

The Deacs' next scheduled game is Sunday, Dec. 20, when they travel to Chapel Hill to take on North Carolina for the second time in 10 days.
