Deacs Continue Road Swing at North Carolina

Wake Forest enters Sunday riding a three-game winning streak in the series including a 57-54 win on Dec. 10.

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C.
- The Wake Forest women's basketball team will continue it's stretch of road games, and in-state opponents, as they travel to Chapel Hill to face North Carolina for the second time in ten days.
 
The Demon Deacons (4-2, 1-1 ACC) are coming off a loss at No. 4 NC State in Raleigh. The Deacs will look to build on the momentum of their 18-4 run to end the game on Thursday night against the nationally-ranked Wolfpack. Freshman Jewel Spear posted a season-best 12 points including four three pointers.
 
The Tar Heels (6-2, 1-2 ACC) are coming off a 24-point win over No. 18 Syracuse at home on Thursday night. That was the Heels' first conference win of the season after losing to Wake and Miami during the opening weekend of ACC action.
 
Tipoff for Sunday''s game at North Carolina is scheduled for 1 p.m. (ET) in Carmichael Arena. The game will be streamed on ACC Network Extra.

AGAINST IN-STATE OPPONENTS
After a streak of wins against in-state foes Davidson, Charlotte and North Carolina this season, Wake Forest has improved to 11-4 versus all in-state opponents over the last two seasons.
 
This includes the Deacs' 4-2 against Big 4 opponents over the same span.
 
The Deacons' matchup with the Tar Heels will be their third consecutive Big 4 game of the season.

STANDOUT STAT
North Carolina heads into the game averaging 83.6 points per game, which ranks 30th nationally and second in the ACC. In the first game in the series this season, the Demon Deacons held the Tar Heels to just 54 points and 34.8 percent shooting.
 
RECEIVING VOTES 
After starting the season 4-2, Wake Forest is receiving votes in the AP Top-25 poll. The Deacs had nine votes when the poll was released on Monday, Nov. 30, five votes on Monday, Dec. 7 and most recently 25 votes on Monday, Dec. 14.
 
The Demon Deacons are looking to crack the AP Top-25 poll for the first time since the 1987-88 season when Wake Forest was ranked five times, elevating as high as No. 16 in the nation.

The Deacs' next scheduled game is Sunday, Jan. 3, when they host Florida State at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
