THE MATCHUPS
• The Demon Deacons travel to Montgomery, Ala. to take part in the Blue Gray National Tennis Classic, a tournament consisting of eight teams from around the country. Wake opens against SMU at 10 a.m. on Friday.
• Last season in the Blue Gray Classic, Wake Forest defeated Yale and No. 22 Illinois to reach the final before losing to No. 13 Oklahoma State.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Demon Deacons captured their fourth consecutive victory and first in conference play with a 7-0 win at Clemson. It was the team's first win in Clemson since the 2002 season when Wake Forest reached the NCAA Tournament Quarterfinals.
• After winning the doubles point with a pair of 6-1 victories, the Deacs clinched the match with three straight-set victories in singles play. With Chandler Carter grabbing the fourth and clinching point in the No. 5 match, Wke went on to capture the remaining three singles matches for a clean sweep of the Tigers.
QUICK HITS
• Carolyn Camapana stayed steady inside of the top 30 in the ITA singles rankings to No. 29. She won her No. 1 singles match in three sets. Eliza Omirou soared up the singles rankings, moving from No. 117 to No. 79 this week. Omirou and doubles partner MC Meredith remain in the top 20 at No. 11. Wake is now a consensus top-25 team reentering the ITA poll at No. 19 while moving up to No. 23 in the USTA poll.
• Chandler Carter and Carolyn Campana have won all five of their doubles matches this spring including a pair of 6-0 victories.
SCOUTING THE MUSTANGS
• Earlier this spring, a portion of the Wake Forest team traveled to SMU to play in the Metroplex Mania, playing against the Mustangs in singles and doubles on separate days.
• SMU comes into the weekend sporting a 7-1 record with their lone loss coming to No. 40 ranked LSU on the road, 5-2.
UP NEXT
• Wake Forest returns to conference play next weekend when it travels to NC State and Georgia Tech. The Deacs will face the Wolfpack in Raleigh on Feb. 28 and will face the Yellowjackets in Atlanta on March 1.
• Last season, Wake Forest defeated No. 32 Georgia Tech 7-0 in Winston-Salem while its 5-2 loss to No. 10 NC State was the only home loss of the season.
