No. 12 Wake Forest's seven-match win streak ends as the Deacs fall in Raleigh, 5-2

RALEIGH, N.C. – The No. 12 Wake Forest women's tennis team were led by No. 29 Carolyn Campana and Anna Campana Friday at No. 3 NC State.

The Campana sisters accounted for both of the Demon Deacons' (9-2, 1-1 ACC) points in the 5-2 loss to the Wolfpack (16-2, 3-0 ACC). It snapped Wake Forest's seven-match winning streak it had entering the weekend.

Carolyn Campana, who defeated Princeton's No. 17 ranked Shvets on Saturday, picked up her second consecutive top-20 victory in singles action. Friday in the top singles match, she defeated No. 16-ranked Smith in straight-set fashion.

Despite both sets being tight, Carolyn Campana led nearly the entire way en route to a 7-5, 6-4 win.

In the No. 4 match, Anna Campana cruised to a straight-set victory to earn the Demon Deacons their first point of the afternoon. The freshman, who provided the clinching point for the Deacs in their Blue Gray Classic win, took the first set, 6-2, and continued to control the match with another 6-2 victory in the second frame.

No. 79-ranked Eliza Omirou nearly extended her match against No. 32-ranked Rogers to a third set, falling 7-5 in the second set.

Quoteable:
"It was a tough match today. On the road, we really needed a better doubles point, but credit to them. They didn't give us that opportunity. Anna and Carolyn obviously played great today. We'll have to be ready for another tough ACC road match on Sunday." - Coach Jeff Wyshner
