THE MATCHUP
• Following a two-week hiatus, the Wake Forest men's tennis team returns to action for a top-20 matchup on the road against No. 19 Oklahoma State on Sunday March, 1.
• First serve against the Cowboys is set for 2:00 EST.
• This will be just the second true road match of the season for the Demon Deacons.
• Wake Forest is 5-3 all-time against the Cowboys. The Deacs picked up a 6-1 victory over Oklahoma State last season.
LAST TIME OUT
• The Deacons defeated No. 12 Baylor in the opening round of the ITA Indoor Championships on Feb. 14.
• After dropping the doubles point, Wake Forest rallied against No. 2 Ohio State picking up three singles wins, but ultimately fell to the Buckeyes 4-3. The Deacons won the doubles point against third-ranked Florida, but the Gators battled back taking four straight singles matches.
• Freshman Taha Baadi competed in the Drummondville and Calgary Challengers, ATP events in his home country of Canada. He picked up a first round victory in Drummondville.
ROOKIES RISING
• A pair of Wake Forest freshmen have made an immediate impact with the Deacs this season.
• Henri Squire started the season on court four, but moved into the three spot and most recently, the second spot. He is 7-3 on the year and even picked up a win on the top court against Davidson. He and doubles partner, redshirt-junior Eduardo Nava, rank 25th nationally in doubles.
• Taha Baadi has also played the top three courts for the Deacs. He is 6-3 overall with a 3-1 record on both the second and third courts.
MEET THE DEACS
• The Deacs return 11 players from last year's NCAA finals team and welcome seven newcomers to the squad.
• Freshmen Brant Fenno, Juan Lopez de Azcona, Jack Parry, Matt Thomson and transfer Robert Maciag joined the Deacs in the fall, while Taha Baadi and Henri Squire enrolled in January.
NEXT UP
• Wake will return to the Wake Forest Tennis Center to open conference play against Duke on March 4 at 4 p.m., followed by a non-conference matchup against UNCG at 7 p.m.
