WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest women's golf team is headed to the coast for their second tournament of the spring.
The Darius Rucker Intercollegiate, hosted by South Carolina, is being played at the Long Cove Club in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina. The Deacons are going into the tournament ranked seventh in the latest Golfstat and Golfweek rankings.
Last Time Out
The Deacons opened their spring slate with arguably the toughest field of the regular season at the Northrop Grumman Regional Challenge in Palos Verdes, California. Wake finished eighth in the field of 16 with two players inside the top 25. Junior Emilia Migliaccio finished T7 and freshman Lauren Walsh finished T23 and scored a hole-in-one in the second round.
Course Information: The tournament is being played at the Par 71, 6,266-yard prestigious Long Cove Club. The course was voted the favorite private golf club by Hilton Head Monthly Magazine in 2020 and is ranked #19 in Golfweek's Top 100 Residential Golf Courses in the US for 2020.
Format: 54-hole stroke play where teams will play three rounds over three days. Friday and Saturday will have tee times beginning at 8:30 a.m. ET and Sunday will begin at 8:00 a.m.
From the Coach
"We are looking forward to competing at the Darius Rucker this weekend. The field is very strong, and the course is outstanding. It will be great preparation for ACC Championships and Nationals with 12 top-25 teams, and four in the ACC, playing against each other." – Head Coach Kim Lewellen
Player to Watch
After not making the lineup for the Northrop Grumman, freshman Rachel Kuehn has shot to the top of the lineup, right behind Migliaccio for the #2 spot. She's coming to the Darius Rucker with an individual title already under her belt, winning the ANNIKA Intercollegiate in September. She posted a five-shot victory, going 13-under while defeating a field that included 12 All-Americans. Only time will tell how she fares in Hilton Head.

Rachel Kuehn (9:00)
Vanessa Knecht (8:50)
