Antonio Joins Wake Forest as Graduate Transfer

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Wake Forest men's basketball team officially added graduate transfer Jonah Antonio on Friday, May 15. The Perth, Australia native will be immediately eligible this fall as he will earn his bachelor's degree (communications) this summer from UNLV.
"We're thrilled to have Jonah come to Wake Forest and join the Demon Deacon family," head coach Steve Forbes said. "Along with his obvious offensive firepower, Jonah will also bring a level of toughness and experience to our team. Not to mention, he will be excellent addition to our University community off the floor."
Antonio, who spent his first two years at Mount St. Mary's in Maryland and one season at South Plains College in Texas before heading to UNLV, played in 25 games with the Runnin' Rebels in 2019-20 and averaged, 6.9 points and 2.4 rebounds in 22 minutes per game. In addition, he shot 31.5 percent from beyond the arc.
While at South Plains, Antonio averaged 11.6 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 1.9 assists per game while shooting 40.9 percent from beyond the arc. He was also named to the All-Western Junior College Athletic Conference team.
He used the 2016-17 season as a redshirt year at Mount St. Mary's and started 31 of 32 games the following season as a redshirt freshman for the Mountaineers, averaging 11.3 points, 3.8 rebounds, and 1.3 steals per game. He also led the team with 90 made 3-pointers, which is the second-best single-season mark in school history. He was also named to the Northeast Conference All-Rookie Team.
The 6'5" guard is the first graduate transfer under Forbes as the Deacs new head coach.
