Deacs Land Record 285 on ACC Academic Honor Roll

73 percent of the Wake Forest student-athletes were honored by the conference
GREENSBORO, N.C. -- A record total of 285 Wake Forest student-athletes have earned spots on the 2019-20 Atlantic Coast Conference Honor Roll, announced Thursday by the conference office.
This is the second consecutive year Wake has seen a record number of student-athletes on the list. It is also the fourth consecutive year the Deacs have had an increase in student-athletes on the ACC Academic Honor Roll.
In total, an impressive 73 percent of Wake Forest student-athletes were honored by the conference.
"I am very proud of our student-athletes and their ability to balance academics and athletics, especially during this period of remote learning," Jane Caldwell, Sr. Associate AD, Student-Athlete Services and Assistant to the Dean said. "I would also like to extend my gratitude for my colleagues and our professors for their hard work in assisting our entire student body during this unprecedented time. Our student-athletes have represented our University and the Athletic Department with integrity and their hard work is an inspiration to us all."
The honor roll consists of student-athletes who participated in a varsity-level sport and registered a grade point average of 3.0 or better for the full academic year.
The Demon Deacon football team led the way with 72 honorees. They were followed by track & field with 48 combined, including 26 women and 22 men. Women's soccer, women's tennis and men's golf were impressive in the classroom as every student-athlete on those rosters made the ACC Honor Roll.
Of the 285 honorees, 147 Wake Forest student-athletes earned ACC All-Academic honors multiple times during their time on campus. This includes 18 student-athletes that have earned this distinction four or five times while at Wake Forest.
