The duo earns recognition from 16 MLB scouting departments.
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. - Ryan Cusick and Bobby Seymour landed on Baseball America's Preseason All-America list released on Monday. The Wake Forest duo was voted to the Second Team by Major League organization's scouting departments.
Cusick heads into 2021 with a record of 7-5 and 98 strikeouts over 23 collegiate appearances. Last season, the Sudbury, Mass. native struck out at least nine batters in every start while setting a new program record with 17.3 strikeouts per nine innings. In 2019, the Deacs posted a record of 10-2 when Cusick started on the mound, including a perfect 4-0 mark in conference play.
Seymour, who earns his third national honor this preseason, will look to continue to lead Wake Forest's offensive lineup in his fourth collegiate season. The 2019 ACC Player of the Year has made 129 career appearances for the Deacs and holds a .328 batting average to go along with 17 homers, 35 doubles and 135 RBIs.
On Jan. 6, the pair earned Perfect Game Preseason All-American accolades while Seymour was also named a Preseason All-American by D1 Baseball last week.
No. 17 Wake Forest will open the 2021 season on Feb. 19-21 with a three-game series in Winston-Salem against Northeastern. Following a pair of non-conference games on Feb. 23 and 24, the team will begin Atlantic Coast Conference play with a home set with Notre Dame on Feb. 26-28.
