Wake Forest Welcomes NC State Thursday Night

The Demon Deacons are 8-2-1 all-time when facing NC State in Winston-Salem, riding an eight-match unbeaten streak at Spry Stadium.

WINSTON-SALEM, NC -- Wake Forest women's soccer wraps up its four-match homestand on Thursday night for its second Tobacco Road rivalry contest of the season, as it will welcome NC State to Spry Soccer Stadium for a 7 p.m. matchup that will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
 
Wake Forest brings a 12-3-0 record into another ACC showdown and currently sits tied for fifth in the ACC standings with a 4-3-0 mark. NC State enters the contest with a 7-6-2 overall record and holds the ninth spot in the conference standings at 3-4-0.
 
SENIOR NIGHT
Prior to kick, Wake Forest will honor senior Ashley Frank with a special presentation. Frank has appeared in 44 games over the past four seasons entering Thursday and has started five of those matches. Frank is responsible for 12 points, four goals along with four assists. Overall, the senior has totaled over 1,100 minutes of action in the Old Gold and Black.
 
FAN INFORMATION
A number of new fan experience enhancements are planned for the 2021 season. This includes expanded food and beverage options, including availability on Walt Chyzowych Alumni Hill, an enhanced in-game experience, featuring an expanded video board production with additional cameras, replay, and fan-engaging elements, as well as new immersive experiences to promote the unique culture that is known around professional and collegiate soccer.

TICKET INFORMATION
The best way to enjoy Demon Deacon soccer throughout the 2021 season is through the purchase of Season Tickets. Packages start at only $45 for adults or $25 for youth and seniors. 
 
For those wishing to purchase single-game admission for Spry Stadium, advance purchases are highly encouraged. Single game chairback seats are available for only $25, while bleacher admission is $15.

HEALTH & SAFETY PROTOCOLS
Wake Forest Athletics works closely with Wake Forest University, Forsyth County and state officials to follow COVID-related guidelines for the safety of fans in attendance at Truist Field and all venues. While proof of vaccination is not currently required for spectators, we encourage vaccinations for all. We are proud that nearly 100% of Wake Forest Athletics student-athletes, staff and coaches are vaccinated, as required under University and Athletics policy. Currently, all academic buildings are closed to visitors, and masks are required in all indoor spaces. For additional information regarding steps the University is taking to minimize the risk of COVID-19 transmission on campus, we strongly encourage you to review the University's COVID-19 Notice.
 
Wake Forest has several gameday guidelines and strategies. First and foremost is required face coverings for all unvaccinated fans in attendance. Additionally, all fans must wear a mask indoors at all times, regardless of vaccination status. Wake Forest Athletics also requires all non-team personnel to be masked at all times inside the field enclosure. 
 
LAST TIME OUT
Wake Forest suffered its third ACC loss of the season on Friday, falling to No. 8 Duke at Spry Stadium in the ACC action, 2-0.
 
Duke, who was voted to go fourth in the ACC preseason rankings as voted on by league's coaches, got goals from freshman Michelle Cooper and graduate Tess Boade.

The Blue Devils came out hot with Cooper sneaking through the back line and working past Kaitlyn Parks seven minutes into the match.

Boade put Duke up 2-0 at the 22-minute mark, driving a ball in from outside the box.
 
FASTEST TO 12
This is the quickest any Wake Forest team has made it to 12 wins in 14 games. The previous best start to a season was 2011 in which the Deacs managed 12 wins in 17 games. 
 
SMART IS CLUTCH
With the game-winning goal against No. 17 Virginia Tech, senior Shayla Smart is tied for the fourth most game-winning goals in the nation. She has recorded five game-winners.
 
EVERYONE IS DANGEROUS
Twelve different Deacs have scored at least one goal this season, and six of Deac's 12 goal scorers have scored two or more goals.
 
GOOD SIGNS
Wake Forest is 12-0 when scoring the first goal and 10-0 when outshooting their opponents. When the Deacs score two or more goals they are a perfect 10-0. 
 
FINDING THE NET
Through 15 games, Wake Forest has scored 33 goals, surpassing the total number of goals scored by Wake Forest over 14 games during the 2020-21 season (16).
 
RPI UPDATE
Wake Forest's RPI (rating percentage index) sits at No. 40, as it is one of eight ACC teams ranked among the top 40 of the latest NCAA RPI.
 
SCOUTING THE WOLFPACK
NC State is 7-6-2 overall and fresh off an 1-0 upset victory vs No. 3 UNC on Saturday. The Wolfpack have defeated both UNC and Duke in the same season for the first time ever.
 
The Wolfpack are led in scoring by Jameese Joseph, Annika Wohner and Jenna Butler who have combined for 16 goals. 
 
SERIES HISTORY
Wake Forest and NC State are set to square off for the 27th time, with the Demon Deacons holding a 18-7-2 advantage in the all-time series.
 
The Deacs are 8-2-1 all-time when facing NC State in Winston-Salem and have not lost to the Wolfpack since 1996, riding an eight-match unbeaten streak.
 
UP NEXT
The Deacs will return to action Sunday, October 24 when it makes the trip to Pitt. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. at Ambrose Urbanic Field, and the match will be broadcast on the ACCNX.
